Jerry was considered one of the premier pass protectors in the League. His exceptional quickness and explosiveness made him invaluable on quick tosses and end sweeps. He began his professional career in Canada with the Regina Saskatchewan Rough Riders in 1958, playing both offensive and defensive end. When the American Football League was formed in 1960, Jerry became one of the original team members of the Dallas Texans. He finished his career with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1965. Jerry was an AFL All-Star selection and played in the Pro-Bowl in 1962.

After football Jerry spend 31 years as a Vice President/Sales Director of Haggar Clothing Company. As of October 1997 he retired for the second time. Now he spends his energies playing golf, bass fishing, traveling and working on Chiefs Ambassadors projects – especially projects that involve kids.
